ABOUT
In Tashkent, one of the block of the editorial building with a large mosaic panel is being prepared for demolition. The author of the Tashkent Modernism project, Alexander Fedorov, drew attention to this with a request to contribute to the preservation of the city's heritage.
As an example of a progressive approach to the preservation of monumental art, he cited the mosaic panel "Girl with a souvenir", which is one of the main attractions of the Kok-Tobe park in Almaty.

The mosaic is mounted on a metal structure supported by three massive piles, the total weight of the mosaic panels is about 3 tons.

However, in the case of the Tashkent mosaic, it is necessary to develop a different constructive solution due to the more than twice the size of the mosaic panel. The size of the mosaic is 15.5x5.5 m and the main task is to solve the problem of stability of such a large structure, as well as to maintain the rhythm and visual proportions of the structure.
The monument, triangular in plan, provides sufficient stability, and also provides additional space for placing information about the history of the creation of the mosaic, the author, etc.
We hope that the mosaic can still be saved.
